Ruthie graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in Fine Arts. Her lifelong passion has always been photography, and she was thrilled to launch her own photography business in 2001. She initially focused on taking portraits of children and families, as well as engagement photographs, but she has now expanded into event photography as well, capturing life’s celebrations at parties (birthday, engagement and anniversaries), weddings and Bar and Bat Mitzvahs. Ruthie attributes much of her success in the world of photography to her genuine love of children. A grateful mother to a teenage son, Ruthie loves spending time with children and has a natural way of connecting with each and every one of her subjects. What makes Ruthie’s work unique is that the moments she captures provide a true glimpse into the spirit of each family. Rather than wasting a lot of her time ensuring that everyone finds the “perfect pose,” Ruthie sparks conversation, encourages her clients to be playful and at ease, simply interacting with each other, and without fail, captures this magic in her photos. Ruthie often invites her clients to join her at a variety of local outdoor venues such as Winterthur, Longwood Gardens, parks and nearby beaches along the Delaware and New Jersey shore communities.

One distinct feature of Ruthie’s business is that her photo package includes a compact disc containing each and every photo that she takes. This means that each client can review the disc and select a photo to use for a holiday card, another for Mother’s Day or Father’s Day – the options are simply endless as the client leaves with an average of 150 choices of lifelong memories that they can frame themselves or turn into gifts to be treasured by all. This is a unique benefit offered by Ruthie. Her clients own the rights to all of their photos and walk away with countless opportunities after just one sitting. The only complaint that her clients have mentioned is that they have trouble choosing which of her photos to use!

Giving back to her community has always been a priority for Ruthie, which is why she has chosen to donate some of her time and talent to organizations that include the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Centreville School, the AIDS Foundation, the One Brave Chick Company, B+ Foundation, Delaware Children’s Museum, Camp Possibilities, The Committee of 100, and the Delaware Children’s Theater.
